The Process

The Telares de Cintura

In Chiapas, Mexico, specifically in the zone of San Andrés Larráinzar, the threads of the telares de cintura are woven into vibrant and complex patterns. Each thread tells a story, each design is a fragment of the rich tapestry of the region’s culture. The pieces were inspired by the ancestral significance of these telares chiapanecos, taking fragments that represent the universe, the earth, and the pilgrimage in this world.

The Filigrana Momposina

In Mompós, Colombia, the delicate threads of filigrana momposina are intertwined to form intricate designs. This technique, passed down through generations, is a testament to the skill and patience of the momposino artisans. Each piece of filigrana momposina is a work of art that reflects the rich biodiversity and landscapes of Mompós. To achieve this thin silver thread with which the pieces were made, almost pure silver is used.

The Fusion of Techniques

Finally, these threads of history, tradition, and spirituality come together in Ensenada, Baja California. Here, they transform into design jewelry, unique pieces that combine the old and the new, the traditional and the modern, the tangible and the spiritual. Each piece is a tribute to the ancestral techniques and profound beliefs they represent, reinterpreted through the lens of contemporary design.
